PENELOPE MEETS A SIREN – FIRST ELEMENTS FOR A TRANSDISCIPLINARY DIALOGUE ON THE CONCEPT OF WISDOM

Mariana LACOMBE LOISEL, coordinator of the Faculty of Philosophy of the Monastery of Saint Benoit in São Paulo in Brazil is a post-doctorate at the Faculty of Philosophy of Laval University in Canada under the direction of professor Thomas De Koninck. Faithful collaborator of Plastir, she approaches here for our greater pleasure the fundamental concept of wisdom. Treated under the transdisciplinary, philosophical, sociological and poetic point of view, this article is to be meditated in comparison with the materialist and tormented world in which we are living every day. Very well illustrated by the photographer Chantal Walker, it makes us penetrate the Indian roots of wisdom and their multiple ramifications in Orient and Occident, before describing their role in today’s society. The author subtly releases from it the profile of a wise world by stating us the way with eight branches or the four Tolteque agreements which should be precepts for each of us.

NICOLAS AUGUSTE POMEL: A NATURALIST AND A MODERNIST OF THE ALGERIAN PALEONTOLOGY FROM THE 19TH CENTURY

DJILLALI HADJOUIS is a paleoanthropologist, paleontologist and associate of Conservation for the Inheritance at the departmental laboratory of archaeology of the Val de Marne. We have discovered the encyclopedist naturalist Camille Arambourg in Plastir n°4. Now, the author presents to us the biography of Nicolas Auguste Pomel. This naturalist appears among the great names of sciences of the evolution like Darwin, Buffon, Lamarck, Lacepède, but also Jules Vernes, Arago or Henri Poincaré carried by the streets of Algeria during the XIXth century. He will bring there new terminologies, such as the sahelians in geology which will be partly supported by Arambourg as well as many monographs treating of local fauna: deer tribe, Ovidae, carnivorous, elephants, quaternary rhinoceroses, monkeys or men… This meticulous and new description once again makes us discover the talent of historiographer of the naturalists and paleontologists of North Africa of the author.

VOUIR OR THE EMANCIPATION OF A POLYPHONIC THINKING

VOUIR rhyme incontestably with Plastir ! Different steps, but common compost: the plasticity of senses, of words, of the thought and their interpenetration which gives place to a plentiful creativity, with a new tonality. Actually, one realizes well quickly that the singularities are related to the bottom and are not captive of the form. A form which wants to be deliberately metaplastic, which crosses arts in all their modes of expression to permit us to think differently. It is, for the authors Frederic WALLICH (alias Wall°Ich), Frédérique BRUYAS & Pascal MARZAN a « thought in walk… a thought with high voice…a thought without thinking… a think-sense… », which fits in « a world which is everywhere and unceasingly polyphonic », like « a sound and visual poetry » which undoubtedly charms our senses and renews the art of the knowledge-vouir! Here are grafted musicians, readers, plasticians, “vidéastes” creative mutimedia, actors, writers, surrealists, poets such as Gertrude Stein, Nicolas Bilder or Joyce Mansour which in turn bewitch the synesthesic page where these works of art are presented. At the end, a new form of writing that we let you discover in Plastir and deepen on the website of Wall°ich: ART)i(tOO.

THE BBB (BURNED BY BLUE) EFFECT (Third Part)

Ana Leonor MADEIRA RODRIGUES offers to us the next episodes of the BBB effect that was published in the previous numbers of our review. She has just published a richly illustrated book on the subject entitled « Queimado por Azul » at the editions Assirio & Alvim (2007). This third episode of the « BBB Effect » translated from the Portuguese names « the relation between inhabitant and cockpit ». It transports us from the blue kitchens invaded by bacteria to the dark field of the self-awareness, the subject-object ratio and the act of nomination explored under a quasi-psychoanalytical angle by a narrator in symbiosis with the world of the Arachnida. The fiction is involved thus in the cave of not-human entities which centre the supposed « supremacy » of man and haunt the story so much so that one does not know finally any more who thinks: the kitchen, the spider or the eternal woman ?
